Programme Overview

HFP Medical is home to one of the UK’s largest and most experienced PCN pharmacy teams. We were proud recipients of the 2025 General Practice Safety Award from LMC London and shortlisted for the Primary Care Pharmacist Association’s Team of the Year 2024. With consistently excellent trainee feedback, we’re committed to developing confident, capable pharmacists in general practice.

Our curriculum follows the full patient journey, from case identification to treatment and review, focusing on how to apply guidance meaningfully in consultations. We aim to move beyond theory, helping pharmacists understand the why behind decisions, supported by clinical reasoning, real-world cases, and practical tools.

Each session includes supporting resources and clinic-ready checklists – our “prescriptions for practice” – to use in day-to-day care.

Training is structured around stepwise progression, aligned to the RPS Advanced Practice Framework, and includes access to our Skills Escalator—a tool for mapping competence, guiding supervision. This framework was described by the Pharmacist Defence Association as:

“Truly innovative and forward-thinking… With the advent of prescribing from day one of registration in 2026, all primary care organisations which employ pharmacy teams should look to have similar frameworks in place.”

Whether you are experienced in general practice or new to independent clinical roles, our programme equips you to better manage complexity, risk, and everyday decision-making in primary care. We don’t just teach guidance—we explore how it was formed, backed by key trials and our shared experiences, delivered through interactive, engaging sessions that support lasting learning.

Simply put, it’s the information we wish we’d had as pharmacists from the start.
